RI Breakers College Showcase Wrap-UP

Upwards of 20 Division 2 and Division 3 coaches along with the New England Recruiting Service’s Adam Finklestein spent the better part of Sunday on three courts at the Mass Premier Facilities in Mansfield, Mass. to take a peek at a wide variety of the close to 90 players from the New England area.  Many of the usual suspects performed to their level of ability or higher like Ike Azotam, Mike Rivera, Ray Bowen, Reuben Cabrara, Dennis Clifford, Jeremy Cumberlander, Aziz Dieng, Chris Flores, John Hickson, Danny Majchrzak, Parris Massey, Louis Montes, Ryan Pina, & Troy Robinson.  Others that caught our eye:

Ryan Santos a senior from New Bedford hit the mid range jumper with consistency, defended on the ball with tenacity, and took the ball to the basket to score.

Jeff Schmeltz the 6’7 big man from Burriville HS (RI) continues to improve.  He worked hard off the boards and did a lot of little things to keep himself involved in plays.  Finished a couple of shots off around the basket and seems much more confident.

Jules Tavares a sophomore was very impressive with his ability to rebound both on defensive and offensive ends. He was also affective in transition getting to the basket and setting up his teammates for easy baskets.

Justin DuVarney a senior at Marianapolis Prep who spent two years at Georgetown Prep. had an awesome day.. He shared the ball, shot it, defended it and made plays.. One of the top performers of the day.

Eric Watson a 6’3 junior from Merrimack NH, strong rebounder, tough defender, hard nosed kid. Also knocked down the open three.

Marco Flores junior at O’Bryant Math and Science, sees the floor well, penetrates with ease on both sides of the floor, and displayed good change of speed and has the ability to finish in traffic.

Austin Fiero sophomore from Rehoboth crashed the boards hard on the offensive end, and finished well around the basket.

Josh Vital a post graduate at Marianapolis scored the ball well in traffic and controlled the glass on both ends of the floor.

Ryan Terp a senior from Walpole MA rebounded the ball well and looked to distribute the ball every chance he got it.

Chris Vincent a senior from Norwich CT played extremely hard, and consistently knocked down the open jumper from all areas.

Kris Joyce a sophomore from Stoughton MA, good defender on the ball, dug out a lot of loose balls and took the ball to the basket with good leaping ability.

Mike Neal a freshmen at Marianapolis, played extremely hard on both ends of the floor and rebounded everything that got close to his hands.

Josh Mills a junior at Masters in Simsbury, an athletic wing who plays bigger than his size, strong to the basket, scrappy on the defensive end.

Alvin Durret the former all stater from Windham HS (CT) who is doing a post grad year at the Putnam Science Academy showed off his super quickness by continuously rushing the ball up the floor.. He played under control and got his teammates involved effortlessly.

Noel Jones a post graduate from Halifax Nova Scotia, inside outside player, can step out and hit the three. He can also guard a smaller player and close out the passing lanes extremely well.

Nick Calvino a 6 foot senior from Providence Country Day, played very hard defensively, made multiple open three’s and ran the team was poise and control.

Mick Kelly, a 5 8 sophomore from Andover, deadly shooter who can also finish around the basket. Plays tougher and bigger than his stature.

Brandon Rollins a senior at Brimmer and May did it all. He scores inside and consistently made three’s from all areas on the perimeter. He also battled inside on both ends of the floor.

Richard Parker senior from Lebanon CT played extremely hard in all sessions, he scored from many areas on the court, and dug out many loose balls in traffic.
